In 1976, Warren Cusser and George VanderMeer started Cusser-VanderMeer Sales & Service, featuring Chevrolet cars and trucks, Buicks, and Oldsmobiles. George VanderMeer became the dealer operator in 1982. With the passing of George VanderMeer in 1999, his daughter Nancy and wife Millie continue the family business.

George VanderMeer entered the automotive world at the age of 18 driving midget class race cars. Through experience and hands on training, George moved on to larger race cars eventually building a car that qualified for the 1951 Indianapolis 500 with Jimmy Davis. Previously, George had worked with the Tony Bettenhausen, Sr. racing team until Tony's untimely death during qualifications for an Indy 500 race.

George also appeared as an extra during the filming of the movies "To Please a Lady" starring Clark Gable and "Big Wheel" starring Mickey Rooney. Both of these films were shot on location during Indianapolis 500 race seasons.

Having had started his relationship to the automobile industry at such as high level, it was only natural for George to begin the next phase of his professional career as a General Motors dealer.

George's emphasis as a dealer and service manager at VanderMeer Chevrolet-Buick-Oldsmobile, INC. was excellence in service both on the vehicle and for the customer. He was known for his personal attention to individual details for any and all clients.
